FAQs

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I prep my hair for wearing a wig?

Properly wearing a wig starts with a flat base, meaning your hair must lay flat against your scalp. Here are the steps to achieving that flat base:

  1. Shampoo and condition your hair for proper cleansing and hydration.
  2. Decide on a braid pattern: Cornrows, either straight back or in a beehive Tip: The smaller the braids, the flatter the base, the better the final look!
  3. Straight hair can be wrapped, then covered with a wig cap to keep the hair in place.
  4. Alternatively, straight hair could be pulled into a low ponytail.

Can I exercise and swim?

Yes, you can exercise and swim in your wig!

Wigs are a great protector when you enjoy a vigorous workout. All wigs come with comb attachments to assure you that your wig won't go anywhere without you.

After a good swim, be sure to follow the proper steps to care for your wig for longevity.

What are the proper steps to care for my wig to give it longevity?

Everyone cares for their wigs differently. Let's answer a few of your questions.

What if I use an everyday wig?

If you have one wig that is your everyday wig you will need to put more care into it than if you had multiple wigs from which to choose.

We suggest regularly shampooing and conditioning your wig, at least every 2 weeks. Deep condition once per month.

What Products do I need to care for my wigs? Do you have any additional suggestions?

Caring for your ready-made wig is easy to do. Here are a few dos and don'ts for your wig.

Do

  • use argan oil on every human hair wig regardless of the texture because argan oil is lightweight. We love using this oil.
  • use argan oil for multiple reasons, like a heat protectant or a light moisturizer.
  • use a foam wrap or mousse.
  • use a curling product, such as Marc Anthony Strictly Curls Curl Envy Perfect Curl Cream. This is our preferred.
  • use flexi rods, rollers, or pin curls to keep the longevity of a style.
  • wrap your hair at night or braid it so those curls can pop
  • wear a satin bonnet, satin scarf, or use a satin pillowcase, if you choose to sleep in your wigs.
  • store your wig on a wig holder like a mannequin or styrofoam head.

Don't

  • use heavy products.
  • mix a lot of different products.
  • allow product buildup and oily hair, if possible.
  • use high heat.

Crown Me Wig Collection wigs are made with 100% Virgin Human Hair. Too much heat can cause heat damage to your wig, just like it would to your natural hair.

Can I sleep with my wig?

Yes, you may sleep in your wig. Be sure to sleep with a bonnet, satin scarf, or satin pillowcase to keep the integrity and longevity of your wig.

Am I able to color the wig?

Yes, all our wigs are 100% unprocessed virgin hair. You may bleach and color your wig.

Please be sure you know the proper steps to ensure that you do not damage your wig.

If you are unsure of the exact process to color your wig, we highly suggest you reach out to your local licensed professional hairstylist.

How do I store my wig while I'm not wearing it?

You have a couple of options when not wearing your wig. Let's face it, you need to let your head breathe sometimes.

Option 1: You may purchase a mannequin head online or a styrofoam head from your local beauty supply.
